Brian Kersten Wisconsin's life and career inveterinary medicine began on the pastoral lands of a farm in Appleton,Wisconsin, where his initial interactions with animals kindled a lifelongpassion for their care. This passion led him to pursue a Bachelor of Science inAnimal Science at the University of Minnesota, where he graduated with highdistinction in 1977. He furthered his education by earning a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1983, equipping him with the skills to make asignificant impact in the field. 

In 2021, seeing a need for more equitable veterinaryservices, he founded Mercy Veterinary Service in Baldwin, Wisconsin. Thisclinic has become a cornerstone for affordable pet care, offering extensiveservices in small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry to ensure that petsfrom all economic backgrounds receive the care they need. His commitment toaccessible care has helped many pet owners and their beloved animals.

Additionally, he serves as a relief veterinarian inAmery, Wisconsin. This role enables him to assist a variety of veterinarypractices, enhancing the quality of care throughout the region and furtheramplifying his influence on animal welfare. 

His professional contributions extend beyond hisclinical practice. In 1985, he dedicated himself to humanitarian efforts inHaiti, where he spent over two years aiding in relief and development projectsthat benefited both the human and animal populations. This experienceunderscored his commitment to making a difference on a global scale.

After returning to the United States, he acquired aveterinary practice in Baldwin, which he managed until 2003. During thisperiod, he also served as the President of the Pierce St. Croix Humane Society,actively promoting local animal welfare initiatives. 

His philanthropic spirit drives him to engage deeplyin community service. He volunteers at Today's Harvest Food Shelf, helping todistribute food to those in need and combat local food insecurity. He is alsoinvolved with Mercy Corps, participating in their efforts to supportcommunities facing global crises, and he provides volunteer veterinary care atBarefoot Crow Animal Rescue, ensuring rescued animals receive necessary medicalattention.

Outside of his professional and volunteer work, heenjoys a rich personal life. He is married with four adult children andmaintains a balanced lifestyle that includes hobbies such as playing theguitar, gardening, reading, and exercising. These activities reflect hiscommitment to continuous learning and personal wellness.
